There is a consistent theme of low key lighting throughout the teaser trailer. The saw trailer starts off very slowly with a black background, we see a little clip then it cuts off this was just to probably keep people on the edge thinking there’s something bigger to come. There is non diegetic sound in the background which sounds like an old hymn this fits in with the genre horror because it sounds creepy but it’s being played slowly which matches with everything that has happened so far.

Textual Analysis Saw Teaser Trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJuOCO06_Lk
There is another text which pops up which makes the audience think however they are leaving the audience hungry for more by adding text to this teaser trailer. The writing is in gold which matches with the light around the glass box the man is in. This also makes it easier for viewers to read and doesn’t distract us from the clip. The first shot we see is a zooming in shot to the man with diegetic sound saying “hello”, this is when see the mans face clearly as he wakes up instantly in a close up shot. His nvc is one of shock and horror because of the glass box he is in. So far we haven’t seen a lot but this does a lot of good because it keeps the audience thinking.
There is a quick panning shot of the man struggling to get out of the box where we hear diegetic sounds of him screaming, because of this shot we can now see his costume as well where he is wearing a white shirt and a watch. Where as before we only saw his head they have built up the trailer to this point and now suspension has died down but interest has gone up because now there’s more movement towards the end of the trailer. After this we see a medium close up shot of the man and non diegetic music which is quick paced to match the actions of the man.
