Teaser trailer conventions
A teaser trailer is a short series of film clips used to advertise an upcoming movie, game or television series. The typical conventions of a teaser trailer usually are:

·         That they are usually between 30-60 seconds long

·         Contain the minimum amount of footage from the film, so it just teases audiences

·         Released long before the film is released

·          Pace usually is fast or starts slow and picks up

·         Their much shorter than theatrical trailers

·         They can’t give too much information about the film-they must leave the audience wanting to know more.

·         They don’t follow the narrative and a re usually not in chronological sequence( they usually use a non-linear structure)

Horror film conventions

·         Dark shadow lighting

·         Isolated location

·         Female victim

·         Disruption of normality

·         Sub plot of male/female relationship

·         Defeat of monster

Conventions of scream

·         You may not survive the movie if you love sex,

·         You may not survive the movie if you drink or do drugs

·         You may not survive the movie if you say I’ll be right back

More rules (according to the killer)

·         You may not survive the movie if you ask “who’s there?”

·         You may not survive the movie if you go out to investigate a strange noise

Scream 2

The body count is always increasing and the death scene s are always much more elaborate, with more blood.

Scream 3

·         You’ve got a killer who’s going to be super human. Stabbing him won’t work, shooting him won’t work and shooting him won’t work.

·         Any one including the main character can die.

·         The past will come back to get you. Forget about sins committed in the past because they will destroy you.

More horror conventions

·         Dumb blonde runs upstairs/into a closet to hide or get away from a killer, zombie or ghost.

The best horror trailers ask a question, they set up a premise or situation. The trailer doesn’t really tell us about the characters, it doesn’t establish much at all. All we know is somethings horrible is going to come.

In horror films you’ll see a few action shots of knives plunging, exes being thrown, or chainsaws being swung, trailers promise blood.

Horror films

·         Horror Films are unsettling films designed to;

·         Frighten and panic

·         Cause dread and alarm

·         Invoke our hidden worst fears

·         Captivate and entertain us in a cathartic experience.

·         Often conclude in a terrifying shocking Finale.

Fears created by horrors

·         For different types of audiences it can deal with our fears;

·         Nightmares

·         Our vulnerability

·         Alienation

·         Revulsions

·         Terror of the unknown

·         Fear of death

·         Loss of identity

·         Fear of sexuality
