The term 'Obsession' refers to a constant idea or impulse that continually forces its way into consciousness, it's often associated with mental illness and anxiety.
People can be obsessed by a single delusive idea, fantasy, thought or desire.
It is also one of the most painful and distorted aspects of passion, which is linked with different emotions such as love, hate, joy or despair.
Obsession might become a fixed personality disorder which can endanger others, especially the victims. In some cases its found that obsession cases make their way to the court injunctions as to prevent the obsessed person gaining access to their victims.
If the problem of an obsession is not dealt wih effectively it can be frightening and even life threatening.
People can have various types of obsessions such as: music, haairstyles, the internet, listening to music and cleanin which is a popular one (OCD). These are every day obsessions and usually harmless.
In relation to our horror teaser trailer ideasthe group thought that making obsession part of our concept would be a great thing as it can cause fear to our audience. Therefore if fear can be induced in real life because of some sort of delusive ideas related to obsession, having a teaser trailer which involves the idea of some sort of obsession will not only be a good idea for a good horror genre storyline but also a great way of capturing the audience's attention as the idea of obsession alone is creepy.
As a group, when we think of the word 'Horror' we think of: blood, freaky and death, stalker, pain, pay-back, frightened and psychopath killer.
In the same sense when we think of 'Obsession' we think of: stalker, love, lust, death, pain, freak, psychopath and mental illness.
Therefore by combining the two we got really good ideas for our teaser trailer. This has also led us to believe these two combined can help us create and deliver some good, intense horror film ideas that will not only scare the audience but also make them anxious.
Horror films that involve some sort of obsession:
The Human Centipede. In this horror film, the antagonist is obsessed with the idea of a human centipede.
We are shown he has this obsession because he has this idea that he is willing to kill and torture other humans just so it can come true.
We also see how he is determined to create his human centipede no matter what and shows no remorse what so ever.
Also by dehumanising them and treating them like animals, the audience get the impression that he is in fact obsessed as a normal human being would not perform such an act and make it seem like it is normal.
